Fantasy Sword Memory

Fantasy Sword Memory swaps playing cards for an armoury. Each tile hides a sword from the world of fantasy, and every sword has a matching partner somewhere on the board. Uncover two at a time, find the pairs, and clear the grid.

Swords are an interesting test for memory because they share a basic outline. A blade, a guard and a hilt appear on nearly all of them, so recognising one weapon from another depends on the details that fantasy artists love to add, such as a curved edge, a jewelled pommel or an unusual colour. Players who notice those details quickly will find the pairs fall into place much faster.

The game is organised into four levels. On each one, the aim is to complete the board in as few moves as possible, so a careful player who remembers every revealed sword will usually beat one who flips at random. It is a short set, easy to finish in one sitting and easy to replay for a better count.
